Your Music Book Store (Feb. 16 and Beyond)
It’s a slow week for new music books, but here’s the biggest news of the short year so far: Bruce Springsteen is writing his autobiography … and is reportedly getting a nice $10 million advance for it.
His publisher, Simon & Schuster, is releasing “Born to Run” on Sept. 27 in hardcover, ebook and audio-book versions.
There have been countless Springsteen books in the past, including his first authorized biography, 1979’s “Born to Run: The Bruce Springsteen Story,” written by Dave Marsh. But this is the first one penned by Springsteen himself.
“This is the book we’ve been hoping for,” Simon & Schuster publisher Jonathan Karp said in a news release. “Readers will see their own lives in Bruce Springsteen’s extraordinary story, just as we recognize ourselves in his songs.”
More on “Born to Run” below (see Sept. 27).
