This Week’s Releases … Sort Of
ICYMI, July 10 is the inaugural Global Release Friday, the music industry’s first attempt at an international release date for new music.
For decades, new releases have come out on Mondays in Britain, Tuesdays in the United States, Wednesdays in Japan and Fridays in Germany and Australia. Most countries will recognize the new global release date, with the notable exception of Japan, which will stick to its traditional Wednesday.
Pauseandplay.com has launched a new web page, new-release-friday.com, in anticipation of Global Release Friday, with hopes of drawing more readers to the Pause & Play site. It will contain P&P’s exhaustive weekly lists.
Also, Pause & Play’s free weekly e-newsletter, which normally comes out on Mondays, will be moved to Thursdays. You can sign up for the newsletter at pauseandplay.com/about-us/newsletter-signup.
There are no big-name releases scheduled until July 10, but here’s a sampling of what’s coming out between now and then.
