Song Premiere: Meresha’s ‘Game of Video’
Meresha‘s new single, “Game of Video,” goes on sale (Aug. 31), but the eclectic indie pop singer-songwriter is giving Pauseandplay.com readers a sneak preview and a brief interview.
Enjoy this exclusive song premiere … and, for the record, Meresha’s music has been streamed more than 14 million times on streaming/video platforms.
Pause & Play: Tell us the story behind the song, what prompted it, what inspired it.
Meresha: “Did you see the movie ‘The Matrix’? Apparently some people think it’s a true story. Elon Musk, of Tesla and Space X, even said that there’s a one in billions chance that we are NOT living in a simulation.
“I asked my fans and over 70% agreed that we are living in a ‘Game of Video. Over 5,000 people voted so far on Facebook. You can join the conversation there at this link.
” ‘Game of Video’ explores this area. You can see a bit of the video below, which is coming out Friday.”
Pause & Play: What’s in the future for you? A new album? Any other highlights coming up?
Meresha: “Right now getting ‘Game of Video’ out is a focus. I have another song which I might release after that. This summer, I wrote a lot of new music while staying in Berlin. An amazing city and great place for inspiration. Not sure yet in which form those tunes will come out.”
Pause & Play: Who would be your dream collaborator?
Meresha: “Would be great to do something with Björk. I really admire how she did not compromise her own vision and still became popular despite sounding like no one else. I also like a lot of British electronic acts, for example James Blake, with whom I think we could create some interesting sounds.”
