BTW: The synth-pop legends let Lady Gaga producer Frankmusik work his studio magic on the first single, “When I Start To (Break It All Down).”
The result may be a little jarring for longtime Erasure fans, but it’s refreshingly contemporary.
“The song was originally called ‘Tender’ and it was a ballad,” singer Andy Bell tells P&P. “It was probably the last track we were working on in London and I know Frank was referencing ELO for that one. He cranked up the energy on that, sped it up.”
Now comes Erasure’s first album in four years. Bell loves what Frankmusik brought to the table.
His gut feeling? “There’s something in the air, there’s something going on, and people are excited about it and so are we.”
