Pause & Play: You’ve done many fine albums, so what makes this one stand out and/or more special to you?

Maybe an artist has to feel that his newer work is better than work that has gone before (preferable to concluding that he’s over the hill). But I don’t think it’s just wishful subjectivity,” Lind tells Pause & Play. “My heart is in my last two albums too, but it seems like the natural course of things that we improve with age. In this case, I believe the songs on ‘Something Worse Than Loneliness’ are stronger than the ones on my earlier albums. I’m singing better. And, this being our third project together, Jamie [Hoover] and I have worked out a way to operate together. His production suits the songs to a T. Plus, there’s a close-knit intimacy in this one. The entire album was put together by just the four of us: I’m supported by the fabulous George Wurzbach on keyboards, Elena Rogers singing her unique and creative back-up vocals and Jamie’s dazzling musicianship. All three of them ‘get’ my music and each of them has the chops to deliver the goods. It’s a group effort and I’m not embarrassed to say I’m proud of it.
