In no way is it a concept record, but to me it’s a journey through the last several years of my writing that was then brought to life in the studio by stellar production and fantastic musicians,” Ybarra tells Pauseandplay.com. “This album is lyrics focused at its core. Some of the songs are stories, some of them are based on real life and some are just fun. I think it is well paced. There are upbeat songs to listen to as well as slow burn songs that are meant to be listened to alone or with a small group. The instrumentation is rootsy and tight and lets the lyrics be heard. There is stellar piano work, guitar solos and it is even funky at times. I think most of all it is cohesive and feels like an intentional album start to finish.
