Toni Tennille’s memoir, last week’s top new music book, is a walk in the park compared to Rita Coolidge’s “Delta Lady: A Memoir” (co-written with Michael Walker).

The singer told the San Diego Union-Tribune last month that she cried for an hour after reading it for the first time. She worried that she was revealing too much about her past, relationships gone bad (i.e. Jim Gordon, Kris Kristofferson), being blamed for splitting up Crosby, Stills and Nash (not true) and how she survived it all.

“The thing about doing a book like this is, I have no more secrets,” she told writer George Varga. “I called some friends, and said: ‘Oh, my God! What have I done?’ They said: ‘It’s OK. You’re not a bad person. You’re fine.’ It’s just a choice that I made (not to hold back).”
