Happy 25th Birthday to Us!
It’s our Silver Anniversary!
(IKR, I can’t believe it either.)
Pauseandplay.com, est. on Oct. 1, 1997, has been around longer than Google, YouTube, Facebook, Wikipedia, iPhones, Twitter, Instagram and Netflix. We’ve survived everything from the Y2K panic to 9/11 to “Gangnam Style” to the global Covid pandemic. In those 25 years, we took our first photos with a cell phone, saw the first black U.S. president elected and mourned the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Invasions, insurrections, hurricanes, earthquakes, the Euro, Brexit, vaccines, iPods, Space Shuttle Columbia. We, like you, have seen it all.
We’ve lost Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Prince, Tom Petty, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Aaliyah, Amy Winehouse, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Chris Cornell, John Denver, Chester Bennington, Michael Hutchence, too many more to name.
For Pauseandplay.com, being included on Entertainment Weekly’s list of 100 greatest websites was a wonderful surprise, as was hearing that Elton John uses the site to keep track of new music.
Above all, we thank you, the readers. Without you, we wouldn’t still be here.
Here’s to 25 more.
God willing.
