As it were (Moments in rock history): John Lennon

AS IT WERE (MOMENTS IN ROCK HISTORY): John Lennon appeared on the BBC’s “Top of the Pops” on Feb. 12, 1970, performing “Instant Karma” with wife Yoko Ono. He was the first Beatle to appear on the show since 1966. Lennon sported an armband that said “People for Peace,” and Ono held up signs that read “Smile,” “Peace” and “Hope.” They were accompanied by Alan White and Klaus Voorman.
