PAUSE & PLAY: Who exactly are The A-Team?
CAMPBELL: "Evan Brubaker and Troy Glessner."
P&P: What made you throw out 40 songs and start all over?
CAMPBELL: "I felt I should try and focus on life and situations around me. When you have songs that are 3+ years old, it's hard to get back to the emotion you originally felt at the time of writing."
P&P: Will you ever revisit those songs?
CAMPBELL: "I have been going back and listening to a lot of things I had recorded for writing purposes and songs I performed years ago. I think the songs will stay in a box, but it's fun to go back every now and then."
P&P: What's your favorite line on the album?
CAMPBELL: " 'I find it hard not to drink/ a three year love affair with whiskey.' "
P&P: Now that you're based in the Northwest, do you miss Salt Lake City?
CAMPBELL: "I miss my family and my friends. I miss the scenery. I don't miss all the 'church politics.' "
P&P: "Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you." Who sang that line, and what do you think of it?
CAMPBELL: "I don't remember who sang that song. I do remember that song though. It drives me crazy. I heard it a thousand times a day at the coffee shop I used to work at. It might be a great song, but I don't know anymore because it drove me crazy for so long. I think if I heard it now I would shut off the radio."
(P&P: For the record, "Weather With You" was by Crowded House. Funny, we thought Weather would like "Weather With You.")
P&P: Out-of-left-field question: What's your guilty-pleasure TV show, past and/or present?
CAMPBELL: "Right now, I love watching 'CSI.' I know, I know, pretty sad. I think it's because I know that it would be impossible to solve two cases in an hour. I enjoy the resolve."
P&P: What's the first record you've ever bought?
CAMPBELL: "The first record I ever bought was 'The Doors Greatest Hits.' My mom suggested it to me. I love that record for so many reasons."
P&P: What's the first record you've ever bought?
CAMPBELL: "My dad took me to see the Rolling Stones at Rice Stadium in Salt Lake. It was so damned loud, and both of my younger brothers fell asleep in their seats. I don't know how they did it. They put on a great show, all the props, etc."
P&P: What's the worst job you've ever had?
CAMPBELL: "Once upon a time, I was a Kirby vacuum salesman. Door to door sales. The damn things are great vacuums, but it was a hard sell in a city where the average family has three children and pays 10 percent of their income to the Mormon Church."
