MY MANIFESTO FOR THIS ALBUM (A GOAL I WANTED TO ACHIEVE): "To grow, professionally and creatively."
I REFUSE TO GIVE UP MY DREAM BECAUSE ...: "I love music, in all its varied incarnations. I love writing, performing, and more recently, producing other artists in my home studio. And I refuse to give up my dream because music is what I told myself I was going to do."
WHAT WE'RE UP TO NOW: "Promoting 'Chase,' just shot the video for the song 'Chase' with director Dean Lim, producing four artists in my studio, playing locally in Los Angeles and starting to expand bookings to other cities."
SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME: "The songs tell stories. Maybe that's why people keep telling me I sound country when I don't own a single country album."
MY PARENTS KNEW I'D END UP IN MUSIC WHEN ...: "My mom still thinks I'd make a good lawyer, but ... when I went back to school to study music and eventually got my degree. Kinda satisfied their parental desires and made music a bit more respectable to pursue."
MY PET PEEVES: "People who don't try. The most dangerous obstacle to anyone's progress is their own fear of failure."
MY MUSICAL HERO: "Evan Frankfort. Most talented musician I personally know. I learn from him every time we hang out."
MY BEST GIG EVER: "Solo acoustic opening for Contact while on tour in Louisiana. I played 'Greatest Thing,' which would end up on the album 'Chase.' It's a song about the importance of family, and a mom and her son came up later who heard and got the tune. Sometimes ... music really works!!"
MY WORST GIG EVER: "Playing at the Inglewood Post Office. Still not sure why I was there."
THE FIRST RECORD I EVER BOUGHT: "Soundtrack to 'The Muppet Movie.' 'Rainbow Connection' is a killer tune."
THE FIRST CONCERT I EVER WENT TO: "The Who. While in high school, some friends had the idea to camp out overnight in their car to get a good spot in line for tickets. Three of them spent the night in the back of a Toyota Corolla hatchback, with only enough room to sleep on their sides. Despite a grossly uncomfortable night, they managed to oversleep, missing getting a spot in line, only to be woken up when I arrived from home wondering what the hell happened. The concert was great, though, and seeing The Who, with John Entwistle was amazing."
THE WORST JOB I'VE EVER HAD: 'Working three stories below ground, for a bank, entering random numbers into a data base for who knows what. I was hitting the keyboard with my elbow, palm, head, anything to get random numbers without thinking about it. One day, I took a three-hour lunch and thankfully was fired."
