PAUSE & PLAY: When (original) drummer Sam Altman decided to quit, did you guys consider calling it a career, too?
BROWNSTEIN: "Well, we didn't know what we were going to do. I think everyone in the band had a different reaction. Some of us just assumed we would continue and some of us just assumed we would stop."
P&P: When coming across Allen Aucoin, did you want to find someone who had a similar style to Sam's?
BROWNSTEIN: "We were looking for someone that could play over the same feel that the band had but could also bring to the table an arsenal of new beats. We got exactly that."
P&P: Have major labels come sniffing around? If so, what do they say about the band?
BROWNSTEIN: "There are always major labels sniffing around. I think they are starting to realize that bands like the Disco Biscuits have huge commercial potential."
P&P: Most memorable gig ever?
BROWNSTEIN: "I honestly remember them all about the same. I could say Red Rocks or Central Park or the first time we played Wetlands, but for me they are all really special."
P&P: Worst gig ever?
BROWNSTEIN: "Well, that is easy. I played a really bad show at Pounders in Alabama (Tuscaloosa, I think). I was just really bad."
P&P: Who is your musical hero?
BROWNSTEIN: "Waters. McCartney. Those are my two guys."
P&P: Out-of-left-field question: What's the all-time best disco song, in your humble opinion?
BROWNSTEIN: " 'Disco Inferno,' of course. Isn't that the only true disco song?"
P&P: The first record you ever bought?
BROWNSTEIN: "I think it was 'Please Please Me.' That might be the first CD I ever bought. Maybe the first record I ever bought was Yes' '90125' or maybe Queen's 'The Game.' That pretty much tells you how old I am."
P&P: The first concert you ever went to?
BROWNSTEIN: "The first concert I ever saw was Men At Work. We had a great time at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in New York. The nice thing was we got to play that stage with Phil and Friends a couple of years ago, so that was pretty cool."
P&P: The worst job you've ever had?
BROWNSTEIN: "Every single one of them was terrible. I hate to say it. It is weird because I always get really into it, whether I was a bus-boy or an editor or a camp counselor, I was resolved to be the best that I could be at it. But they were all terrible. I guess I liked being a counselor, but working in restaurants is a thankless and terrible existence."
