BTW: "The biggest goal for me for this album," Roy, a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Balbriggan, County Dublin, Ireland, tells P&P, "was I wanted to have a full body of work. Like all the old classic albums that I grew up listening to. I didn't want to have just two great songs, two singles and then have no consistency for people, for kids to go out and actually buy 12 or 13 songs.

"My goal was to give a whole story, like a whole full book. Each little song is a movie and you're not let down by any song. I wanted us to struggle to pick what singles we would use. I wanted 12 amazing songs."

After two years of working in the studio with a variety of writers and producers, Roy had her doubts her debut would get finished, but she kept the faith.

"Sometimes I was like 'I'm going to be in the studio for the rest of my life,'" she says, "so I definitely hit a few times when I hit a wall. Those were the days that I went into the studio and nothing really happened and you think 'I'm going around and around and around here. You know, I think these songs are great, why can't we get them out?' But it's timing and legal sides and business sides and I hated that so many things in the background could interfere with the music end of it. Yeah, it did feel some days that we would never get it finished, but we did!"
