"Deliveries After Dark" (producer: Popa Chubby; Hear here) |
(Blind Pig, Jan. 29, 2008) |
BTW: When it comes to recording, Popa Chubby always wants to take the music one step further - better songs, better guitar, better production.
With "Deliveries After Dark," the native New Yorker had a clear goal in mind: "I wanted to make a classic blues rock record in the tradition of Zep, Stones, AC/DC, The Who," he tells P&P.
The album was released in Europe last year, way ahead of the U.S. release date. Why?
"Europe really blew up for me," he says. "I sell out 1,000-seat venues and play large festivals. I think the main reason is that the Europeans tend to not let the industry categorize me like they do here. For example, 'He's a blues guy so he can't play in a rock club.'
"However, the last few years with Blind Pig Records behind me in the States, my popularity has grown, enabling me to tour more in more markets."
