(Triple R, July 24, 2007) | BTW: "The Born Again Floozies are sonic nudists: we lay ourselves sonically bare," singer-guitarist Joey Welch tells P&P. "We strip off the industry-standard digital beat doctors, pitch correctors and parade about in our musical birthday suits. No artificial reverberation, no layers of overdubs, no cowardly additives or digital surgeries to remove those unsightly imperfections.
"And the Born Again Floozies promise you this: at least one real-live-human-made mistake in every song! We record live in the studio and believe that sometimes a flawless performance can be boring, while an impassioned mistake can really kick ass. It's the mistakes that make it taste so good."
Working with Steve Albini, who produced Nirvana's landmark "Nevermind" album, made recording the album all the more special. Albini "was enthusiastic and lent insightful perspective when needed," Welch says. "We share a similar work ethic and, perhaps most importantly, the belief that most of the creation of a great record happens before you get to the studio, and that gourmet encased meat can be pretty darn good."
