Little Big Town "The Reason Why" (Hear here; MP3 Download) (Capitol Records Nashville, Aug. 24, 2010)

BTW: Little Big Town lost nearly everything in Nashville's devastating flooding in early May. But singer-guitarist Phillip Sweet is staying upbeat.

"Most of us store our stuff at a place called SoundCheck in an industrial part of downtown," Sweet tells P&P. "Basically, it's road cases and drums floating all over the place. Multimillion-dollars' worth of equipment lost. You could see Toby Keith's trucks floating on their sides.

"We may have experienced a total loss. But that's the great thing about this town, people pull together. We're having rehearsals and we'll try to figure it all out. Luckily, I have my own guitar with me that I can bring on the road. Music's what gets you back going, so we're anxious to get out there."

Sweet and band mates Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman and Jimi Westbrook are eager to get back on the road, not only to get their minds off their troubles back home, but to test songs off their forthcoming album, "The Reason Why."

"What are we going to do, sit around and mope about material things that we've lost?" Sweet says. "We've been off the road for six months, working on this album, so getting out there and playing again will be good for the soul."

With "The Reason Why," the Grammy-nominated quartet "wanted to grow and stretch ourselves," Sweet says. "You'll hear more depth and maturity to our songs. We changed it up in the studio with different musicians and engineers. Sonically, we wanted to make a leap, too."
