BTW: Producer Jon Tiven tells P&P that he wanted to make a PF Sloan album that was definitive. "No slap-happy, crappy musicianship," he says. "No random song choices; a well-played, well-thought-out PF Sloan album that everyone would look to and say 'That's the one to get.' And the more PF the better."
Tiven, who has produced albums for such artists as Wilson Pickett, Frank Black, Don Covay and Ellis Hooks, says working with Sloan is one of his greatest career achievements. "It took 15 years of nagging," he says. "As far as how the work is viewed, I'll leave it to the critics. But I think it's super, among my best work, if not my very best."
