BTW: "Last year, I went into the studio and began work on a new album with a full band," Borzilova tells P&P. "We did four songs and then I got sidetracked with the idea of doing a full acoustic album of Russian folk songs.

"After doing all of my research, I realized many of the songs I thought were traditional folk songs were songs with authors making them non-traditional but by then the idea of doing an acoustic project was really appealing to me. So, I went back through my song catalog and re-wrote some of it and chose what I thought would be best suited for a more stripped-down performance and brought these incredible musicians in to play along with me. I played nearly all the acoustic guitar tracks while they added their magic.

"We did it all in three days time and the immediacy of the project was very exciting because it is generally a much longer process before we are ready to begin mixing. In the end, I was still able to include 'Rechka,' a traditional folk song that I found in my research and fell in love with."
