Carlon "Johari Window" (producers: Carlon, Ross Petersen; Hear here) (Ropeadope, March 17, 2009)

BTW: " 'Johari Window' is about relationships," singer-guitarist Ryan McGlynn tells P&P. "Not just to lovers, but to family, friends, acquaintances, strangers, environment and oneself. The principle function of the Johari Window social exercise is to make all things about someone apparent to everyone else, including themselves. This idea lead us to a line of thinking.

"It would be amazing to see if people could be completely intimate with one another, if they shared all of their ugly truths as easily as their best traits. Would we all be relieved to no longer have exhausting secrets to hide? Or, could it isolate us even more in our judgment of one another? Our hope is that maybe everyone will see that we are all fucked up. The way people who are really in love eventually do.

"This album is Carlon shaking hands with the listener. It's our first conversation with them. I think we come off as kind of awkward but interesting with the 'Johari Window.' Maybe even a little shy. But, above all, honest."

BTW: "We've played The Melody Tent in Hyannis (Mass.) every August for almost 10 years and every year we'd say we should film the concert in order to show the folks back home what we're up to in the summertime in the States," Saw Doctors guitarist Leo Moran tells P&P. "It's always energetic and enthusiastic and it feels like a primitive ceremony in an amphitheatre or a boxing match. The band loves it and the crowd loves it too!

"It's a circular tent, with the stage down at the bottom in the centre, surrounded 360 degrees by banks of excited fans. The stage takes about 9 minutes I think to go the full circle so you get face to face with  everyone quite often and there's a constant backdrop of faces behind the band. It would be a great venue to see any band in."
