"Goodbye to the Machine" (producers: Hurt; first single: "Wars"; Hear here ; MP3 Download )
(Amusement Recordings/A2M, April 7, 2009)
BTW: What did lead singer Jay Loren hope to achieve with Hurt's new album? "The sonic thunder of Thor himself taking a dump on your head, and flowers growing out of it," he tells P&P, jokingly. "Seriously, we did our best with what we have, that's all we can do. We try to make the best album in the world; whether or not we did, itıs obviously up to you."
Self-producing their album and not going with a big-name producer was out of necessity, Loren says.
"Money was short," Loren says. "Producers need things like money. But truly the band has never had a lack of vision for the direction of any of their songs. I don't think that a producer would have added anything beneficial for this album."

"Everything You Need" (producer: Guy Erez; Hear here )
(Red Parlor, April 7, 2009)
BTW: " 'Everything You Need' embodies for me an American girl expressing her opinions on love, freedom, gratitude, and surviving," Mosher tells P&P. "My goal was to make an honest conversational style album that also connects on a visceral level."
A longtime assistant to Neil Portnow, president of NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences), Mosher followed his advice and pursued a career in music.
"Neil is one of the most supportive guys in the industry when it comes to encouraging artists to create, not to mentio actively fighting for artist rights on Capitol Hill," Mosher says. "I worked closely with Neil for eight years; when it was time to move onto doing music full-time, there wasn't much to say, I knew it was time and he encouraged me to follow my path."
