| Will Dailey (2006 Boston Music Award winner for Best Male Singer-Songwriter) |
"Back Flipping Forward" (first single: "Rise"; Hear here) |
(CBS, Oct. 2, 2007) | BTW: Dailey misses the days of singer-songwriters like "Billy Joel and Elton John who could go completely over the top with one song, knocking your head off and then turn around to play a lush Burt Bacharach-type of ballad right after," he tells P&P. "As a songwriter and performer, I don't ever want to have a safe place. It makes perfect sense for me to have "Boom Boom' and 'Bi Polar Baby' on the same album. My demons are exorcised, while at the same time my admiration for classic singer-songwriters like Neil Young and Van Morrison is reflected. The goal is to make it something I can listen today and 20 years from now."
Big things are already happening for Dailey, whose first single "Rise" not only appears in the Oct. 17 episode of CBS' "CSI: NY," he performs it on the series. The experience was surreal, to say the least, he says.
"It all started when I played a show in L.A. and Anthony Zuiker, the producer, was there," Dailey says. "As soon as I walked off stage, he had this whole idea about putting me in the show. A couple of weeks later, I am shooting a major television show. Nothing in my early rock and roll dreams pictured Gary Sinise turning to me to deliver a line and then playing spot-on bass to my own song. I am still not quite sure I did that. I need to see the show to really take it in."

| Tim Williams |
"When Work Is Done" (producer: Dave Lynch; first single: "Novel"; Hear here) |
(Dovecote, Oct. 2, 2007) | BTW: Williams had no manifesto in mind for "When Work Is Done," other than to put out a solid album. "Nothing is premeditated when I write a song let alone a record," he tells P&P. "I'm not trying to be a lighthouse for anyone lost at sea except myself. I think when people do that the music suffers and no one can connect to it. I hope this record acts more as a wake-up call rather than a depressant."
Critics often compare Williams to Nick Drake; it's flattering, indeed. "People throw Nick Drake's name around like a fancy pair of shoes," Williams says. "Everyone thinks they look good when you have them on, but you don't really get to know them until they been rained on and worn in. I'm in no way offended by the comparison, I'm definitely a fan of his work. It just seems that people get into his music for the wrong reasons, i.e.: it sounded cool in that car commercial.
"The very first time I was compared to him was in high school. Someone came up to me after a performance and said I reminded them of him. I hadn't heard of him before so they asked when I was playing next and said they would be there. I had forgot about the whole thing until I saw the same person again with a copy of 'Five Leaves Left' for me. It blew my mind when I played it on the way home from the gig. The next day, I bought all of his records and have been a fan every since."
